Our research focuses primarily on biology education, environmental education, and selected biological and geological disciplines.

Biology didactics

Research focusing on the biology education at primary and secondary schools from the perspective of teaching effectiveness, factors influencing it, curriculum, and students’ knowledge and skills. Knowledge and skills of pre-/in-service biology teachers and the effectiveness of their training.

Environmental education

Attitudes of children, pupils and students in the field of environmental education. Effectiveness of programs and means of developing environmental (pre)literacy in pre-primary, primary, and secondary education.

Biological and geological disciplines

Research in selected fields of biological and geological disciplines, such as zoology of vertebrates and invertebrates in the Central European region, paleobotany with a focus on the Paleogene and Neogene of the Northern Hemisphere, human population genomics, and computational biology.
